Closing a company involves more steps than most people expect. We’ll check whether you qualify for voluntary deregistration, prepare the paperwork, and lodge it with ASIC — without the headache.
What we do
- Check that your company qualifies for voluntary deregistration
- Prepare the deregistration paperwork
- Lodge ASIC Form 6010 on your behalf (the ASIC fee is around $52)
- Guide you through final tax and BAS obligations
Eligibility basics
- All members of the company agree to the deregistration
- The company has no assets and no liabilities — or they’ve been dealt with
- The company is not under external administration
What if liquidation is needed?
If your company doesn’t qualify for voluntary deregistration — for example, if it has debts it can’t pay — we’ll refer you to a registered liquidator who can advise on the right path.
Final tax and BAS
Before deregistration, your company generally needs its final tax return and any outstanding BAS lodged. We’ll flag what’s still owed and help you get it sorted.
Pricing
From $249 plus the ASIC lodgement fee.
Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between deregistration and liquidation?
Voluntary deregistration is a simpler, cheaper process for companies with no debts or disputes. Liquidation is a formal winding-up process, handled by a registered liquidator, used when a company can’t pay its debts.
How long does deregistration take?
ASIC generally takes around two months to process a deregistration application, provided everything is in order and no objections are raised.
What happens to the ABN?
The company’s ABN should be cancelled as part of winding things up. We’ll make sure that’s covered before the company is deregistered.
Do I need a final tax return?
Generally, yes — the company should lodge a final tax return covering the period up to when it stopped trading. We’ll confirm what’s outstanding for you.
