Last updated: 16 October 2026
1. About this policy
We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. Information we collect
We only collect information we need. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- Contact details, such as your name, email address and phone number.
- Enquiry details you include in a form, email, phone call or WhatsApp message.
- Business and service information when you engage us, such as your business structure, ABN, director details, financial records and other documents needed to provide the service.
- Tax file numbers, only where a service requires it. We handle TFNs in line with the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015 and use them only for the purpose they were provided.
- Website usage information, such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
You can browse our website and read our guides without telling us who you are.
3. How we collect it
We collect most information directly from you: when you fill in a form on our website, subscribe to our emails, contact us or send us documents for a service. We also collect website usage information automatically through cookies, and we may receive information from government registers (such as ASIC or the Australian Business Register) when providing a service you asked for.
4. How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiries and give you quotes.
- To provide the services you engage us for, including preparing and lodging documents with the ATO, ASIC and other bodies.
- To send you checklists, deadline reminders and updates you’ve signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- To run, secure and improve our website, and to show advertising.
- To meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Cookies and advertising
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them to keep the website working, understand how it is used and show advertising.
Google AdSense
We show ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google in My Ad Center.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Analytics
We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. These tools collect information such as pages visited and time on site. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work as intended.
6. Who we share it with
We only share personal information where it’s needed to help you, or where the law requires it. This may include:
- Our registered tax agent partner, when you engage us for tax or BAS services.
- Government bodies such as the ATO, ASIC and the Australian Business Registry Services, when we lodge on your behalf.
- Service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, email, forms, accounting and cloud storage providers.
- Advertising and analytics providers such as Google, as described above.
- Anyone else you ask us to share it with, or where required or authorised by law.
7. Overseas storage
Some of our service providers, including Google and our email and cloud software providers, may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information.
8. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including secure (HTTPS) connections, password-protected systems and limiting access to people who need it. We keep information only as long as we need it to provide our services or as required by law, then securely delete or de-identify it.
9. Access and correction
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. In limited cases the law allows us to refuse access, and if so we’ll explain why.
10. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
